Russian flower pattern
"Time for Tea"
Russia mid 20th century. Flower motif. Machine printed cotton cloth
(found in the lining of a Turkmen boy's dark red cotton khalat). The
large flower motif has regained popularity. The human eye never tires of
colors and patterns designed by the hand of nature. Thus be it Russia,
China or South America, the flower motif will always find followers.

Russian 19th century pattern
"Butterfly Lanterns"
Russia, late 19th century. Roller printed cotton cloth (lining of a traditional
clothing). This pattern is interesting because of the use of the large butterfly
showing a Chinese influence, while the crescents and tassels that of Islam.
Possibly produced for export to Chinese Turkestan.
